On September 19th, Curtis alumni Dominique Easley walked into his old high school once more to encourage and advise the students. Every athlete in Curtis High School was invited to attend the assembly. As he spoke, Easley shared his incredible journey from the familiar halls to the bright lights of the Super Bowl. He talked about the thrilling moment when he and his team won the championship, and he emphasized that, behind the glory of victory, was a lot of hard work and dedication.
Dominique’s message went beyond football, however, and he went on to stress the importance of mental health. He reminded everyone that even champions face challenges off the field. Student athlete Ibrahim Alkasimi felt that “the assembly was very good. It motivated me to do better and strive for greatness. I would love to speak to Easley again as I would love to be where he is in the future.” Easley’s words resonated with the audience, motivating them to chase their dreams while also taking care of their mental well-being. Dominique’s visit was not just about celebrating success, but also a powerful lesson on the importance of vulnerability and self-care. He also came back to visit Curtis when he signed his first contract in the NFL.
