Since last year, the physics and chemistry classes have begun battling against each other in a cutthroat turkey balloon race. On Wednesday, November 27th, teams blew up a balloon to their desired size and decorate it to look like a turkey, in the spirit of Thanksgiving. The competition set-up consists of two sets of chairs facing each other, with a string connecting them. One group from the physics class is pitted against another in the chemistry class, testing whose turkey balloon will make it from one end to the other first.
Both Ms. Jackson and Ms. Pizzarelli prepared their students for the race and supplied all the necessary materials. Diana Valentino, a student from Ms. Jackson’s physics class, says she feels her chances for winning the race have improved because of her experience. “Now that I’m in physics, I have a year already under my belt because I did the race last year in chemistry. Also, in physics we had a more in-depth discussion about how we should proceed with the turkey race.” After letting go of many turkeys, the victor of the turkey balloon race 2024 is physics!
