Pep Band, the school’s newest marching band, was brought back after at least 10 years without it. Mr. Smith, the teacher of Pep Band and our other bands, has brought it back. Since September, Pep Band has performed at about 10 basketball games, including the boys and girls Varsity basketball teams. The band also plans on playing at Spring sport games like lacrosse and baseball. They also hope to play at this year’s graduation, and the upcoming football games during the start of the next school year. Pep Band currently has one drummer, three saxophonists, one flutist, one french horn, one trumpet, one baritone saxophonist, one pianist, and one bassist.
One of the most important parts in Pep Band is marching correctly. Mr. Smith has been teaching the band to correctly march and play their instrument at the same time. Many students in Pep Band agree that this is not an easy task. They have learned different kinds of music including Rolling In The Deep by Adele and other famous tunes. Many of the students agree that they all have fun playing music in Pep Band given that a majority of them are in Symphonic or Jazz Band. Currently, there are about 10 members in Pep Band, and there’s plenty of room for more. If you or anyone knows how to play an instrument or would like to play an instrument, come to room 403 Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:30 and meet Mr. Smith for more information.
